All new nickel-cadmium batteries should be charged overnight before use. Store at 70 degrees For below. Your batteries will retain charge for about 60 days. You will have the best results if the battery is recharged before it is completely uncharged.
The date printed on your battery label indicates either the expiration date or the manufacture date, depending on the brand:
For Cardinal and Heine batteries, the date reflects the expiration date of the battery
For Supreme Power batteries, the date represents the manufacturing date
Supreme Power batteries carry a 2-year warranty from the date of manufacture
Understanding this distinction helps with tracking shelf life and warranty coverage.
To extend the life of your battery:
CAUTION: Many times failure of the battery to charge is a direct result of charging unit failure, not charging the battery for 16 hours before use, or leaving it in the charging unit all day or night. Remove the otoscope from the charging unit in the morning and do not replace it in the charging unit until the end of the work day.
