Collecting a TPA (Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent) license is a Missouri requirement before any pharmaceutical products (diagnostic or therapeutic) can be distributed to an optometrist, regardless of where the optometrist's office is located. Once Amcon has an optometrist's TPA license on file, there is no need to send another copy until it expires.

However, the practitioner is solely responsible for complying by the laws of his or her state. Amcon assumes no liability for practitioner compliance.

Eye care professionals may consider recommending targeted nutritional supplements for patients experiencing vitreous floaters. Products like MacuHealth VitreousHealth Supplement for Eye Floaters, formulated with antioxidative and antiglycation micronutrients, are designed to support the health of the vitreous body and may reduce floater-related symptoms over time.

A clinical study published in Translational Vision Science & Technology showed a statistically significant improvement in floater discomfort among participants using such formulations. These results suggest that specific nutritional support may be beneficial as part of a broader patient management plan.

Key points for clinical consideration:

  • Designed to nutritionally support vitreous structure and visual comfort
  • Typical use: one capsule per day, ideally taken with a meal
  • Sold in 90-count bottles to support a 90-day regimen
  • Manufactured in the USA with domestic and imported ingredients

Important safety information:
Patients should always consult their eye care provider before beginning any new supplement regimen, especially if they are taking other medications or have underlying conditions.

Schirmer Tear Test Strips (PO-6394) do not feature printed gradation lines; instead, each sterile strip has a pre-marked notch that serves as the reference point. After the 5-minute test, measure the length of moisture migration past the notch against a millimeter ruler or the guide printed on the packaging.

If you need printed measurement lines directly on the strip, consider Amcon Tear Flow Test Strips, which include a built-in metric scale for millimeter-accurate readings:

  • Printed metric scale on each sterile, lint-free strip
  • Comfortable rounded tip for precise, painless application
  • Box of 100 individually wrapped strips for hygienic testing
  • Made in the USA for consistent quality and reliability

Eyecare professionals can order Schirmer Tear Test Strips and/or Amcon Tear Flow Test Strips via Amcon’s online store or by calling an Amcon Sales Representative at 800-255-6161.

Disinfectants are categorized by the level of microbial elimination they provide. At Amcon Labs, we offer several options across all three levels:

  • Low-level disinfectants (e.g., Cetylcide II Disinfectant, PE-6808) are designed to be used as a cleaner and deodorizer for hard surfaces around the office.

  • Intermediate-level disinfectants (e.g., CaviCide® PE-6812, PE-6820 and CaviWipes® PE-6813 Regular - Size: 6, PE-6814 Extra Large - Size: 10) incorporate a cleaner, decontaminant, and disinfectant in one. They are recommended for use on nonporous surfaces and fixtures and are safe for operating rooms, surgical centers, and medical laboratories.

  • High-level disinfectants (e.g., Cidex OPA® PE-6824 and Metricide® PE-6811) are designed for a quick and effective means of disinfection for surgical instruments at room temperature. Amcon's high-level disinfectants have an effective life with a range of 14 to 75 days once the bottle is opened.

LEA Symbols provide a more consistent and reliable way to measure children's visual acuity. Young children are familiar with the LEA Symbols (circle, square, house, apple) and are less likely to guess incorrectly using these charts. Children often get anxious and confused when they are pressured to respond without knowing the correct answer. LEA Symbols charts come complete with symbol flash cards and a response key to ensure the child is comfortable with the symbols being used before vision testing even begins.

Amcon offers a complete line of children's vision testing products. Contact an Amcon Sales Representative at 1-800-255-6161 for more information.

    • Supreme Power batteries carry a 2-year warranty from the date of manufacture

Understanding this distinction helps with tracking shelf life and warranty coverage.
